JEE Advanced 2021 Cutoff FAQs

Ques: What is the qualifying cut off for JEE Advanced 2021?

Ans: The qualifying JEE Advanced 2021 cutoff means the minimum number of marks required in order to become eligible for admission in various colleges. This cut off will be different for different categories. Candidates have to score minimum percentage marks in each subject and minimum percentage of aggregate marks so that they can qualify for the rank list. As per JEE Advanced 2020 cutoff, the minimum percentage marks in each subject should be 5% to be included in the common rank list (CRL). The minimum aggregate percentage marks to be included in CRL is 17.50%.

Ques: What is the release date of JEE Advanced 2021 Cut off?

Ans: The authorities will release JEE Advanced Qualifying cutoff after the declaration of results. All the qualifying candidates will be considered eligible to take admission to IITs and can participate in JEE Advanced counselling process.

Ques: What will be the category wise cut off for JEE Advanced 2021?

Ans: The category wise cut off for JEE Advanced 2021 based on the previous years are as follows. Candidates have to score minimum marks in each subject and minimum percentage of aggregate marks.

Rank List Minimum marks in each subject Minimum aggregate marks
Common rank list (CRL) 6 69
GEN-EWS rank list 5 62

Ques: In case I don’t clear JEE Advanced 2021 cutoff, should I drop a year and prepare for the next year or should I apply to other colleges?

Ans. It is not advisable to drop a year in the quest for a better rank for admission in top-tier institutes in the upcoming year. There are many institutes of state-level degrees and private colleges that offer standard education even if not till the level of IITs and NITs. You can go ahead with your engineering degree from any of these institutes rather than wasting one complete year. In case you only wish to study in one of the IITs, you can always prepare better and appear again.

Ques: Does JEE Advanced have a subject wise cut off criteria?

Ans. For Jee Advanced 2021, test-takers will have to satisfy both the subject-wise and the aggregate cut off in order to be included in a rank list. The aggregate marks or cut off is based on the sum of scores of candidates obtained in the subjects of Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics.

*The article might have information for the previous academic years, which will be updated soon subject to the notification issued by the University/College.

Here are some tips regarding the preparation of JEE Advanced:

  1.  For JEE Advanced, focus on the quality time spent on exam preparation which is more important than quantity.
  2. 40 – 45% of questions in JEE Advanced will contain Class XI syllabus, so, focusing on Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry chapters of Class XI is important.
  3. EE Advanced questions are generally conceptually based. So, one must revise the concepts and short cut methods to attain 99% accuracy or perfection.
  4. For getting a good score in JEE Advanced, you must focus on their analytical and reasoning ability to solve the question.
